Man Arrested for Fake Presidential Number Plate in Abuja

The police in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested a man for pretending to be a permanent secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. He was caught in a Lexus SUV with a hidden number plate that read “PRESIDENCY.”

The police shared this news in a statement on their Facebook page on Thursday. They said the vehicle was stopped around 8 pm on October 20 in Maitama, Abuja.

Josephine Adeh, the police Public Relations Officer, signed the statement. The police found out that the number plate had the registration number 10B218 FG, but the documents for its registration were fake.

The suspect claimed he was the real owner of the number plate. However, further checks showed that he was impersonating a permanent secretary from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“The vehicle and its occupant were quickly arrested for investigation and will be prosecuted,” the statement said.

The police also mentioned that the hidden number plate had the inscription “PRESIDENCY” and the registration number 10B218 FG. They are still looking into the case, and the suspect will be taken to court once they finish their investigation.

Adeh urged the public to follow the law, work with the police, and report any suspicious people or activities to the nearest police station.
