A High Court in Niger State has sentenced a 27-year-old man, Hussaini Suleiman, to seven years in prison for raping an eight-year-old girl.
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons shared this news on its official Facebook page on Friday.
Justice Binta Bawa presided over the case. The rape took place at Suleiman's home behind the Prison Quarters in Minna, Niger State.
The statement said, “The convict pleaded guilty and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. The Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps referred the case to NAPTIP Niger State Command on 16th April 2026 after the minor's rape was reported.
“The convict admitted to the crime and was brought before Court 8 of the Niger State High Court, Minna, on 10th September 2026.”
