The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken back a public alert about Deleject Disposable Needles. They assured healthcare workers, distributors, and the public that the needles available in the market are safe to use.
The agency said Public Alert No. 042/2026, which mentioned whitish particles in Deleject Disposable Needle Batch No. 240605, was posted on their website by mistake.
In a statement signed by Bitrus Fraden, NAFDAC’s Director of Post Marketing Surveillance, the agency said their investigation into the manufacturer, HMA, found no issues with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
NAFDAC mentioned that the complaint leading to the alert was filed by Pharm. Jiyah Dadi, who runs a pharmacy at No. 1, Aliyu Turaki, Off Isa Kaita Road, Malali, Kaduna.
According to the agency, the Deleject syringes linked to the complaint were bought from Zagbayi Pharmacy, located on Calabar Road, Off Kano Road, Kaduna.
NAFDAC said their investigation did not find any manufacturing defects. They added that the reported issue might have come from a supply chain problem.
The agency noted that this matter had already been reviewed and investigated, and it was resolved several months ago.
“There are currently no quality, safety, or regulatory issues that necessitate publication of the alert regarding Deleject Disposable Needle products available on the market,” the statement said.
It also mentioned that the products now in circulation meet the necessary quality standards and regulatory expectations for use.
NAFDAC found no evidence suggesting any quality or safety risk to healthcare providers, patients, distributors, or the public.
The agency urged healthcare providers, distributors, and others to ignore the previous publication and reassured them about the quality and safety of Deleject Disposable Needles.
“The publication is regretted and should be ignored.”
This clarification from the agency effectively cancels the earlier alert and confirms that Deleject Disposable Needle products available are safe for use.
