NDC accuses APC of trying to bribe its members to switch parties
The NDC has accused the APC of trying to bribe its candidates to switch parties. The NDC vows to replace any members who defect before the upcoming elections.

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of trying to bribe NDC candidates to join their party before the 2027 general election.
The NDC spokesperson, Osa Director, shared this in a statement on Tuesday.
Mr Director said the APC has been trying to entice NDC candidates with money and other benefits, “obviously for pecuniary reasons.”
“The NDC knows the desperate and harmful tactics of the APC. They have been offering money, political positions, and other gifts to lure some candidates from our party to join their failing side,” he explained.
The spokesperson claimed that some NDC members and candidates “who have fallen for this bait” do not hold the values and commitment that belong to the opposition party.
“They were never truly with us. To them, we say good riddance to bad rubbish, and we wish them luck in their political misadventures,” he added, without naming anyone.
Mr Director promised that the NDC will find replacements for those who have left the party.

“As allowed by the Electoral Act, 2026, the party will quickly hold new congresses to choose credible, capable, and trustworthy candidates to replace those who defected in the affected areas,” he stated.
He urged NDC supporters and all Nigerians not to worry about the actions of the ruling APC in “bribing a few of our members.”
“These are the last kicks of a dying horse that has seen the writing on the wall of its coming defeat,” he said.
The NDC spokesperson continued: “The NDC is firmly committed to its mission of saving our country from the grip of those in power and providing Nigerians with the good governance, security, and prosperity they truly deserve.”
When contacted on Tuesday for comments about the accusations, APC spokesperson Felix Morka asked a PREMIUM TIMES reporter to send questions via WhatsApp because he does not do phone interviews.
But Mr Morka had not responded to the questions sent to him via WhatsApp by the time this report was filed.
