NDC calls for patience after INEC leaves out Cross River governorship candidate

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked its supporters to stay calm after its Cross River governorship candidate was missing from the list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The party said this happened due to a bureaucratic mistake. They believe it will be fixed soon.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that INEC published the final list on Saturday. Only eight political parties have candidates for the governorship election set for February 6, 2027, in Cross River.

These parties are the All Progressives Congress, All Peoples Party, Allied Peoples Movement, National Rescue Movement, Labour Party, Action Alliance, Action Democratic Party, and Peoples Democratic Party.

The African Democratic Congress also did not make the list, along with NDC.

Goddie Akpama, the NDC chairman in Cross River, explained that the party has reached out to the relevant authorities and its national secretariat. They were assured that the problem is being tackled.

“I can assure you that all this will be resolved this week; we will have our candidate back on the list,” he said.

Mr Akpama encouraged supporters to keep campaigning for all NDC candidates, including the governorship candidate. He urged them to focus on spreading the party’s message throughout the state.
