New Leader Appointed for Nigeria's Civilian JTF

The leadership of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has appointed retired Maj.-Gen. Abdullahi Maikano as the new acting Commander General of CJTF.

Prof. Kailani Muhammad, the National Chairman of CJTF, made the announcement on Saturday during the CJTF National Security Summit in Abuja.

The summit was themed “Building a Resilient Nation: Strategic Partnerships for Peace, Stability and National Development.”

Muhammad praised the new commander, calling him a military sports expert. He believes Maikano will help bring structure to the CJTF with a clear plan.

He remembered the challenges faced 15 years ago when he started the CJTF. He said the group aims to work with security agencies to promote peace and unity in Nigeria.

Muhammad stated that the goal of the Civilian Joint Task Force is to create peace and unity across the nation. “Whether you are from Edo State or you are from Orobo, Nupe, Hausa, Yoruba, or Igbo, this country belongs to all of us. We don’t have any other country apart from Nigeria. And God knows why he brought us together.

“I feel happy when I see our people working with security agencies to achieve this goal of peace and unity. When innocent Nigerians are being kidnapped or harmed, we must stand up. I believe we have matured.

“With the new Commander General, we will start putting our plans into action. I am sure we will create a plan for how CJTF will succeed and how we will work with international agencies.

“We are already collaborating with West Africa. I have spoken to about 83 countries. I believe we are ready to move forward. And I am excited,” he said.

After his appointment as CJTF leader, Mr. Maikano thanked the CJTF management, led by Kailani Muhammad, for choosing him to lead the group nationwide.

“I thank God and the executive chairman of the Civilian JTF of Nigeria for trusting me with this role of commander-general. This is a new chapter for me.

“I will review all the achievements from the past 15 years and decide how we can progress from here. I plan to move quickly, with God’s grace. If I shared my plans now, I would be skipping important details.

“But we have a solid plan. As I mentioned earlier, our role as the Civilian Joint Task Force is to support the official security agencies, including the police and armed forces.

“We are here to help because we understand our environment. We will lead in our area and support our partners in bringing peace and stability to Nigeria.

“We only have one country, Nigeria. We love our nation, and we are dedicated to supporting our security agencies.”
