Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and other state governors will represent Nigeria at the Canada-Africa Summit. This summit focuses on digital growth and inclusive opportunities. It will take place in Toronto from August 10 to August 15, 2026. Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for the Zamfara State Governor, announced this on Sunday.
Governor Lawal received an invitation from the Presidency. This invitation highlights his important role in the summit. Attending this event will help improve Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic presence at the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NDIEC).
The Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference (NIDEC) is a major global platform. It brings together governments, investors, multinational companies, development finance institutions, and partners. They come together to form partnerships and find investment opportunities.
The summit aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s National Energy Transition Plan. It aims to make Nigeria a key player in economic cooperation between Africa and Canada.
The Zamfara State Government sees NIDEC as more than a diplomatic event. They view it as an economic mission to attract investments and technology. They also want to secure development funding and technical partnerships. This will help transform the state’s economy.
Governor Lawal’s participation in the Canada-Africa Investment Summit will boost Zamfara State’s profile. It will help position the state as a hub for agribusiness, mineral development, human capital growth, and digital innovation.
The Nigerian delegation also includes the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. Governors Charles Soludo from Anambra, Babagana Zulum from Borno, Uba Sani from Kaduna, and Caleb Muftwang from Plateau are also part of the team. Other delegates include Minister of Foreign Affairs Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Jumoke Oduwole, and Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
