NTI Centre Managers End Strike After Agreement with Management
The National Centre Managers’ Forum of NTI has called off its strike after six days following an agreement with management. Members are to resume work immediately.

The National Centre Managers’ Forum (NCMF) of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI) in Kaduna has called off its warning strike after six days.
In a statement from its National Chairman, Tam Frank, and National Secretary, Mamuda Doguwa, the forum said the decision came after talks with the management of the institute.
The forum also told its members to go back to work right away and take part in teaching practice and other official duties.
"In view of the agreements made and the commitment shown by the NTI management, the Forum leadership finds it right to suspend the ongoing strike action," part of the statement said.
PREMIUM TIMES reported that the strike started on 12 October due to unpaid honoraria.
The forum noted that its members had not been paid for the first and second semesters from 2020 to 2025, as well as the first semester of 2026. They mentioned writing to management on 13 July and having discussions at the institute’s headquarters, but nothing was resolved.
The programs affected included the Pivotal Teacher Training Programme, the Nigeria Certificate in Education, Bachelor’s Degree Programmes, and Postgraduate Diploma in Education. The forum warned it would prepare for an indefinite strike if their demands were not met within the month.
Agreement Reached
The statement revealed that the forum and management met and agreed on six key points.

During these meetings, the Director-General of NTI, Sadiya Daura, was represented by her Special Technical Assistant, Salisu Bature, who is a professor.
The statement mentioned that payments for all outstanding allowances to centre managers and facilitators will begin in the last week of November, with further payments to be made in instalments.
NTI management also agreed that once the arrears are settled, payments for every new semester will be made within a month after the semester ends.
The statement added that from the next examination, the forum will receive invigilation slots in every state and can suggest its members for those roles.
"The first and second batches of course materials have been sent to the State Coordinators. All Centre Managers are advised to connect with their State Coordinators to collect the materials," the statement continued.
"The second-semester results are expected to be out soon. Additionally, another batch of certificates should be released between 14 and 20 November 2026. All issues related to payments owed to host institutions will be reviewed for necessary action."
The forum expressed gratitude to Ms Daura and Mr Bature for their "concern, professionalism, and maturity," and it hopes that the management will stick to the agreement.
