Voting has finished in some polling units in Osun State. Residents are choosing their governor for the next four years.
Voting started at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday in many of the 3,763 polling units across the 30 local government areas.
Turnout has been impressive in some polling units but low in others. Our reporters on the ground saw several cases of vote buying happening in many areas.
Fifteen political parties are competing for the governorship position.
Osun has a total of 2,399,233 registered voters. Of this number, only 1,906,390 who collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) can vote today. Polling units are located in the 332 wards of the 30 local government areas in the South-west state.
Results will be announced by the INEC presiding officers at each polling unit. After that, the results will be collated in two stages, first at the ward level and then at the local government level. The final results will be compiled at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital.
