Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has celebrated former Military President Ibrahim Babangida on his 85th birthday.
In a statement released on Monday, 17 August, by his spokesman, Njoku Ukoha, Otti called Babangida a visionary leader. He noted that Babangida's leadership led to the creation of Abia State on 27 August 1991, 35 years ago.
"On behalf of the Government and good people of Abia State, I heartily congratulate President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on attaining this remarkable age of 85," Governor Otti said.
"We recall with deep appreciation that 35 years ago, under your administration as Head of State, Abia State was created. That historic decision gave birth to a State that has continued to make significant contributions to the growth and development of our nation."
The governor mentioned that the Abia State Executive Council congratulated President Babangida during their weekly meeting. They recognized him as the Father of Abia State.
The Council thanked God for keeping him alive and in good health. They appreciated his contributions and leadership.
Governor Otti prayed that God would continue to give the former Military President wisdom, strength, peace, and many more years of service to Nigeria.
