Jigawa State Police have arrested eight suspects in different parts of the state.
The police also recovered stolen cows, damaged cables, a PS5, plasma TVs, and 3,427 different drugs during their operations across the state. They called this a big win in their fight against crime.
This information came from a statement shared with journalists in Dutse on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.
Adam explained that the police are committed to proactive and intelligence-led policing in Jigawa. This approach has led to important successes in their operations.
He added that these achievements show the command's dedication to protecting lives, property, and maintaining law and order. They want to make sure criminals do not feel safe in the state.
On July 8, 2026, Adam said police arrested a man suspected of vandalism. He had cut electric cables thought to be taken from behind Hotel Hotel in Dutse.
"Further investigation led to the arrest of suspected receivers of the vandalised cables and other stolen items," Adam said.
He named the suspects as Aminu Mohammed, 17, from Fagoji Quarters; Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, from Zai Quarters; and Sani Umar, 18, from Shagari Quarters, all in Dutse LGA.
"The suspects are currently helping police with ongoing investigations and will be charged in court once investigations are complete," the police spokesman noted.
In another operation on the same day, officers from Dutse Division arrested Suleiman Muhammad, 23, from Mariri Quarters in Kano State. He was found with suspected stolen goods.
"We recovered a PlayStation 5 and two plasma TVs worth around ₦2,500,000.00 from him," he explained.
The PPRO said they traced the rightful owners of the items and returned them while the suspect will face prosecution after a thorough investigation.
Adam also reported the arrest of a suspected cattle thief in Guri LGA. This was based on credible information and teamwork with local vigilantes.
"Three stolen cows were found hidden in the suspect’s compound. We returned the animals to their rightful owner while we continue to investigate to find other members of the gang," Adam said.
On the issue of drug trafficking, the police conducted coordinated raids at known trouble spots in Dutse, Gumel, and Kazaure LGAs. This led to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers.
SP Adam named the suspects as Garba Muhammad, 50, also known as Dare; Buhari Umar, 25, from Dantanoma; and Auwalu Dan Jos, 25, from Kofar Tsoro in Kazaure LGA.
"We recovered a total of 3,427 illegal drugs and four blocks of what looks like Indian hemp," he stated.
He listed the items recovered as 1,440 pieces of Exol, 258 Tramadol tablets, 419 Pregabalin tablets, 679 D5 tablets, 80 tubes of rubber solution, 551 wraps of Indian hemp, and ₦100,660 thought to be from drug sales.
