Police Arrest Officers for Alleged N40,000 Extortion

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested officers accused of extorting a businessman.

The officers allegedly took N40,000 from the businessman along Wuye, Utako Road, close to Salem Church in Abuja.

In a viral video, the businessman claimed the officers stopped his car. They accused him of covering his number plate, which he denied.

He said the officers initially asked for a N50,000 bribe, but he negotiated it down to N40,000.

In a statement, the FCT police command mentioned that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, saw the video. This led to an investigation into the matter.

The police confirmed that the officers in the video have been identified and are now in custody while the investigation continues.

They also asked the businessman to come to the FCT Police Command Headquarters to give a formal statement about the incident. This statement will help in taking the right disciplinary actions.
