The police have arrested Abiola Inaolaji, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly, and 146 suspected political thugs in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state.
Abiosun Ojelabi, the police public relations officer for the state command, confirmed the arrest on Saturday in Osogbo.
Mr Ojelabi said the lawmaker, who is part of the Accord party, was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Intelligence Response Team in the early hours of Saturday.
He mentioned that Mr Inaolaji, who represents the Irewole/Isokan State Constituency, was taken into custody during a police operation.
Mr Ojelabi explained that the arrests are part of a stronger police security effort to stop any actions that could harm the credibility of the electoral process.
In a video that has gone viral, a man named Ibrahim was seen admitting to helping move 146 suspects from nearby states to Osun for voting in the election.
