Police Chief Talks with Herders and Farmers About Security in Abuja

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, Josephine Adeh, shared this information on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ms Adeh said that the meeting between representatives of herders and farmers in Gwagwalada Area Council happened after reports of unrest between the two groups.

She mentioned that this meeting was part of ongoing efforts to keep peace, build public trust, and stop any further rise in tensions within the communities.

She quoted the Police Commissioner as encouraging both sides to talk, understand each other, and live peacefully. He said all disagreements should be settled peacefully and lawfully, not through violence.

He cautioned against any actions that might cause trouble, revenge, or disrupt public peace and security. He asked the leaders to work with the police.

The Police Commissioner also urged them to find and report those who were behind the attacks to the police.

He added that normalcy had returned, with more security measures in place to prevent any further breakdown of law and order.

He asked residents of Dabiri village and nearby areas to stay calm and work with the security personnel in the area. He encouraged law-abiding residents to go back to their normal activities without fear.

“Maintain peace and refrain from any actions that could spark tensions again,” he advised the communities.
