The Yobe State Police has arrested eight people for theft, violent attacks, and drug-related crimes in different operations across the state.
The police said these arrests happened in Bursari, Damaturu, and Nguru Local Government Areas. This is part of their ongoing efforts to fight crime.
SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer, shared this in a statement on Wednesday.
Abdulkarim mentioned that the operations also recovered stolen items like a motorcycle and other evidence.
In the statement, police officers from the Garin Alkali Division arrested a 25-year-old man named Musa Musa. He was accused of stealing building materials meant for fixing Daskum Primary School in Bursari LGA.
Abdulkarim said Musa was caught along Gashua Road while moving the stolen items, which included iron rods, from the school.
He added that a black TVS motorcycle, which Musa allegedly used for the crime, was also recovered. However, an accomplice named Alhaji escaped and is still on the run.
"The suspect has been charged to court, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other persons linked to the case," the statement said.
In another case, police from the A Division in Damaturu arrested two suspects, Adam Maigaimu, 20, and Mohammed Umar, 18. This was after a violent fight that involved an axe.
Police investigations found that the clash caused what they called "serious injuries" to the victims.
The police also claimed that the suspects stole a ram from a resident and sold it for their own benefit.
Meanwhile, police from the Nguru Division stormed a suspected hideout in Anguwar Yan Rake. This led to the arrest of five suspects for their alleged criminal activities.
