The Adamawa State Police Command has caught two men who are believed to be behind a phone scam. They sold fake phones to customers through a network of agents in the state.

A statement from the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, was released on Tuesday. The suspects, Audu Abubakar and Nasiru Hassan, live on Bauchi Street in Yola North Local Government Area. They were arrested after victims complained that the phones they bought were just non-working copies.

"Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have arrested two suspects for allegedly defrauding unsuspecting customers by selling them dummy phones instead of original working devices," the statement said.

Nguroje mentioned that police recovered several fake phones and other evidence from the suspects. This shows how serious the case is.

The statement also noted that the Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has ordered a full investigation. The suspects will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.

The police urged the public to stay alert and buy only from trusted phone dealers. They also advised customers to check phones properly and ask for receipts before they pay.
