Operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Delta State Police have arrested two suspected cult members. They are Okonkwo Prosper, 26, from Aniofu in Aniocha North Local Government Area, and Tuesday Emmanuel, 25, from the same area.

According to reports, the police acted on reliable information on June 19, 2026. They made the arrests around 11:45 PM during a planned operation at a place believed to be a hideout for criminals in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State confirmed that a search during the operation led to finding one English pump-action gun loaded with five live cartridges, a cutlass, charms, and items thought to be illegal drugs.

The PPRO told journalists in a signed statement on Sunday that initial investigations showed the suspects are believed to be members of a cult group involved in various cult-related fights in Ibusa and nearby areas.

He added that the suspects are currently in custody. Meanwhile, the police are working to catch other members of the criminal group who are still on the run.

In a related development, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the commitment of the police to tackle cultism and other violent crimes in the state.

The police chief warned those involved in cult activities to give them up or face serious consequences. He also urged community members to keep working with the police by sharing timely and reliable information to help in the fight against crime.
