Police save 11 Ghanaians tricked into coming to Nigeria for visa
The Ogun State Police rescued 11 Ghanaians who were deceived into coming to Nigeria for visas. The victims are now safe and receiving support.

The Ogun State Police Command has rescued 11 Ghanaians who were held captive in Sagamu. They were promised Canadian and Spanish visas to come to Nigeria.
The police shared this news in a statement on Tuesday. The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi.
The victims included seven men and four women. They were saved by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit after police got a tip-off on October 19, 2026.
“Acting on actionable intelligence received on 19 October 2026, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately mobilised to the identified hideout and safely rescued all eleven victims,” the statement explained.
The police found out that a fellow Ghanaian had tricked the victims. He promised to help them travel abroad but instead brought them to Nigeria and held them against their will.
“Each reportedly paid GH₵40,000 before being brought to Nigeria and held against their will,” the statement added.
The command mentioned that the victims are now getting proper care and support. Detectives are working hard to find and arrest those involved in the criminal network.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, praised the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their quick action and professionalism.
Ojajuni assured that the police will keep working to protect lives and fight against cross-border crime. He wants Ogun State to remain safe from criminals who take advantage of innocent people.
The commissioner said, “No safe haven for criminals who exploit the hopes of others.” He promised that the police will not stop until they catch those responsible for this crime.
The command also advised the public to check travel and visa arrangements before making payments. They encouraged people to report any suspicious activities.
They also stressed their commitment to intelligence-led policing, working with other agencies, and taking strong action against crime.
“For the Command, every credible lead matters, every life matters, and protecting the public remains paramount,” the statement concluded.
