Police in Akwa Ibom State have saved three children who were trafficked from the state to an unknown place. The kids, ages 5 to 10, were discovered during a raid done by the police with help from a non-governmental organization that works on child protection.
The operation started after receiving a tip-off about the illegal movement of children in the area. The police acted quickly, leading to the successful rescue of the children who were said to be getting ready for sale.
The police reported that the children were in good health and have now been placed in the care of the state’s child welfare services. The authorities are currently looking into the case to catch the traffickers involved in this illegal act.
The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom praised the work of the officers involved. He also stressed that the police are committed to fighting human trafficking and protecting vulnerable children in the state.
