The Kano State Police have stopped a kidnapping and saved the Sarkin Noman Kano, Alhaji Yusif Nadabo. This happened after bandits attacked Garun Mallam Town in the Garun Mallam Local Government Area.

The police shared this news in a statement from their Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Sunday.

The attack took place around 11:30pm on Saturday, August 29, 2026. Police got reports that bandits had invaded the town and were firing gunshots into the air.

"During the chaos, the criminals kidnapped Alhaji Yusif Nadabo. They also shot and injured three people: Yusif Nasiru, 20; Salisu Garba, 20; and Ibrahim Hassan, 20, all from Garun Mallam Town," the statement said.

The police, working with community members, chased the criminals. This pressure made the bandits leave the kidnapped man behind and escape.

"The bandits left the kidnapped victims and ran away. Alhaji Yusif Nadabo was rescued unharmed," the statement added.

The three injured persons and the rescued ruler were taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The statement mentioned that the investigation is still ongoing, and more updates will be shared with the public.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the quick action of the police teams. He thanked the people of Garun Mallam and nearby areas, including the Vigilante and Neighbourhood Watch Corps, for their bravery and support during the rescue.

Bakori encouraged residents to stay calm and keep sharing useful information that could help catch the suspects.

The police command promised to keep protecting lives and property across the state.
