Police Take Down Criminal Hideout in Abia Forest

The Abia State Police Command has found and destroyed a suspected criminal camp in the state. They warned criminals that there is no safe place for them to hide.

In a statement on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, spoke for the Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa. The command said that, with useful information, they identified and dismantled a suspected criminal camp in Unuobasi Forest, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

"Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit of the Command, with the local security group in Umuobasi, carried out the operation on Sunday, 28/06/2026. They destroyed the criminal camp and disrupted criminal activities in the area. We are still monitoring the area," the statement said.

The statement also said the commissioner assured residents that "there will be no hiding place for criminals within the state."

He reiterated the command’s promise to prevent crime and catch criminals. The police made it clear that they will keep pushing against the hideouts of criminals.

They also advised the public to help with crime prevention. If you notice any security issues, suspicious people, or activities, please report them to the nearest police station.
