The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs). They also promoted 80 other senior officers to their next ranks.
Torty Kalu, who heads Protocol and Public Affairs at PSC, shared this news in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mr Kalu explained that the promotions were based on the successful written exam and oral interview held by the PSC.
He noted that the approval for these promotions was a major decision made during the commission’s plenary meeting.
The 13 CPs who moved up to AIG include Itam Obono, Bassey Ewah, Osagie Agans-Irabor, Monday Agbonika, Iyamah Adebor, Isa Nda, Akaninyene Ezima, and Livingstein Orutugu.
The list also includes Afegbua Rashid, Edozie Azuka, Haruna Yahaya, Emenari Innocent, and Betty Otimenyin.
Mr Kalu mentioned that 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were promoted to the rank of CP.

In addition, 28 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCP. Thirty-three Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) also moved up to ACP.
Mr Kalu added that the commission confirmed the appointment of 162 Assistant Superintendents of Police II (ASP II) to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police I (ASP I).
He quoted the PSC Chairman, Hashimu Argungu, who congratulated those promoted. Mr Argungu urged them to be truthful, transparent, and accountable in their new roles.
He also encouraged the officers to be professional and careful about civil matters, especially land-related issues.
“Be mindful of the fact that there is life after retirement.
“Guard your reputation and integrity. Let your actions speak for you and not against you,” Mr Argungu said.
