Shell Company in Nigeria awarded contracts worth 518 million US dollars to local companies in 2025. This shows their commitment to boosting Nigerian content in the oil and gas sector.
Gladys Afam-Anadu, the company’s Communications Manager, shared this news in a statement on Tuesday.
Mrs Afam-Anadu mentioned that 123 local companies were involved in Shell’s operations and value chain during the year.
Shell’s Vice President, Commercial, Rohan D’Souza, said these payments show strong support for Nigerian service providers working with the company.
Mr D’Souza explained that Shell sees developing local companies as more than just meeting regulations. He called it a long-term plan that brings value to both sides.
He added that Nigerian firms keep providing technical, logistics, and other specialized services. They also benefit from Shell’s training programs.
Contract Finance Facility
Mr D’Souza pointed out the recent launch of a three-billion-dollar contract finance facility by Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo).
This facility, set up with nine major Nigerian banks, aims to help local contractors carry out projects given by SNEPCo.
He mentioned that this financing package would be available in both Naira and US dollars. This will make it easier for contractors to access funds.
Mr D’Souza also revealed that Shell paid around 2.016 billion dollars to the Nigerian government in 2025.
These payments included production entitlements, royalties, taxes, and statutory fees. This shows Shell’s long-term partnership with Nigeria, lasting over sixty years.
