Several communities in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State are now cut off. This is due to the collapse of the Zagah, Suntai road, according to residents.
The road connects rural communities to other areas in the state. A part of the road that was already in bad shape finally gave way and became impassable.
Residents say this situation has made it hard for people and goods to move around. It has also limited access to important services like healthcare, education, and markets.
Community leaders had reportedly asked the state government for help about three weeks ago. They reached out when the road first began to show signs of damage.
Now, the affected communities are once again calling for urgent action from the government. They want to restore access and stop more difficulties.
The collapse highlights the problems caused by poor road infrastructure in many rural areas of Taraba State. Residents rely on a small network of roads for transport, trade, and access to public services.
Attempts to get official comments from the relevant authorities were not successful at the time of this report.
