Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have stopped an ambush by suspected bandits in Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State. They recovered an AK-47 rifle and some ammunition during the operation.
The Nigerian Army shared this news on its official social media page. They said the troops acted on information gathered from a suspected bandit who was arrested earlier.
The army explained that the operation started after the suspect admitted to being involved in criminal activities. He then led the troops to Nwur village where he claimed he had hidden a weapon.
When the troops got to the location, they faced an attack from members of the suspected criminal group. The troops fought back, killing one suspected bandit and arresting another during the gunfire.
After the fight, the troops searched the area thoroughly. They found one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
The troops are still searching the area to find more members of the suspected bandit group, according to the army's statement.
