The School of Public Administration and Human Resources (SPAHR) has announced plans to grow its executive education and professional development programmes. This move aims to improve leadership skills and strengthen institutions across Africa.
The announcement came in a statement that laid out its strategic plans. These plans include executive training, leadership seminars, professional certifications, policy discussions, and initiatives that build capacity for both public and private sector workers.
SPAHR noted that these programmes aim to tackle the new challenges in leadership and governance that many organisations face on the continent.
The institution mentioned that it wants to expand its offerings through executive seminars, conferences, research projects, and professional exchange programmes. This will help connect African professionals with global knowledge and best practices.
SPAHR highlighted that developing leadership is key to solving governance, institutional, and human capital issues that many African nations deal with.
"Leadership remains the foundation of sustainable development," the institution stated. It added that Africa’s future relies heavily on skilled professionals, ethical leadership, and strong institutions.
The school said its focus is on building leadership skills and supporting institutional growth through education and training.
SPAHR also plans to keep forming partnerships and collaborative projects that encourage knowledge sharing and professional development.
The professional membership framework at SPAHR recognizes individuals at different stages in their leadership journey. Membership categories include Associate Member, Member, Fellow, Distinguished Fellow, Grand Fellow, Honorary Doctoral Fellow, and Honorary Professorial Fellow.
According to SPAHR, this framework aims to inspire professional excellence, acknowledge accomplishments, and promote lifelong learning.
Leadership development and capacity building have become key priorities for many educational and professional bodies in Africa. Governments and organisations are pushing to strengthen public institutions and enhance service delivery.
Over the years, executive education programmes, policy discussions, and professional training have become important tools. They help equip professionals with the leadership and management skills needed in today's fast-changing global environment.
SPAHR confirmed that it will continue to put resources into executive education and professional development programmes as it widens its reach within Nigeria and throughout Africa.
The institution also stated that its long-term goal is to help create stronger institutions and a more skilled workforce through its leadership education and capacity building initiatives.
