Tambuwal's Office Denies Rumors of Joining APC
Senator Aminu Tambuwal's media office has denied claims of him joining the APC, emphasizing his loyalty to the African Democratic Congress.

The media office for former Sokoto State Governor and Senator Aminu Tambuwal has rejected claims that he is planning to join the All Progressives Congress. They called the reports false and unfounded.
The office stated that Tambuwal is committed to the African Democratic Congress and is focused on strengthening the party and gathering support for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Monday, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the senator, Prince Daniel, said there are no plans for Tambuwal to switch back to the APC. He asked the public to ignore the rumors spreading on social media.
"To be clear, Senator Tambuwal has no plans to join the APC. Any suggestions otherwise are false and should be ignored," the statement said.
This denial comes after photos and videos circulated on social media, which seemed to suggest that the former governor might be switching parties.
Tambuwal’s media office argued that his meetings with politicians from different parties should not be seen as signs of a possible defection.
"Being polite does not mean there is a party change. Greeting or talking with members of another party does not mean he is planning to switch sides," Daniel said.
The statement described Tambuwal as a statesman who has built relationships across party lines over many years. These connections were formed through years of public service and mutual respect.
It also emphasized that his loyalty is to the ADC, where he is committed to building partnerships and mobilizing Nigerians for the upcoming elections.
"Senator Tambuwal is fully committed to the ADC. His focus is on strengthening the party and mobilizing Nigerians for the 2027 general elections," the statement added.

The media office also urged political supporters, media organizations, and social media users to check their facts before reporting on the senator’s political activities.
"Speculation should never be treated as fact," it warned.
The office further stated that public discussions should address the country's economic issues, security problems, and governance matters instead of unverified claims about politicians’ party affiliations.
Tambuwal was the governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023. He was elected as a senator for Sokoto South Senatorial District in 2023, the same year he finished his two terms as governor.
He is a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and remains a key player in Nigeria’s opposition politics. He previously sought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination.
His move to the ADC positions him among opposition leaders preparing for the 2027 elections.
This latest denial comes as political shifts and talks about possible alliances among opposition parties grow, aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu and the ruling APC in 2027.
Tambuwal’s media office, however, insisted that his relationships with politicians from other parties should not be misinterpreted as a plan to return to the ruling party.
They urged Nigerians to contact the AWT Media Office for clarification before sharing news about the senator’s political choices.
