Tinubu gives new tenure to heads of Correctional and Immigration Services
President Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension for the heads of the Nigerian Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service, enhancing leadership continuity.

President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenures of Sylvester Nwakuche, who is the controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and Kemi Nandap, the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service, by 18 months.
Now, Mr Nwakuche’s new tenure will finish on 26 May 2028. Ms Nandap will serve until 30 June 2028.
This approval came after the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, recommended it. The extension helps fill a gap in leadership roles in both services and gives the board time to find new leaders.
President Tinubu praised Nwakuche and Nandap for the progress made during their time in charge. He urged them to build on these successes.

Mr Nwakuche was nominated by President Tinubu as the controller-general of the Correctional Service in December 2024. The Senate confirmed his role in March 2025.
Kemi Nandap was nominated by President Tinubu as the comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service on 21 February 2024. The Senate confirmed her appointment on 1 March 2024.
