President Bola Tinubu has changed the name of the Institute of Petroleum Studies in Kaduna to the âGeneral Shehu Musa YarâAdua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering.â
The Nigerian leader shared this news during his Friday morning speech for this yearâs Democracy Day.
âAmong the architects of modern democratic Nigeria, we honour General Shehu Musa YarâAdua for his vision of national partnership. In recognition of his contributions, the Federal Government has approved the revitalisation and renaming of the completed Institute of Petroleum Studies, Kaduna, as the General Shehu Musa YarâAdua University of Geological Sciences and Engineering Technology,â Mr Tinubu said.
Mr YarâAdua was a relative of Nigeriaâs late former president, Umaru YarâAdua. He passed away in December 1997 while in prison after being accused of plotting a coup by the then military ruler, Sani Abacha.
