Tompolo Warns Lagos Residents Ahead of 2027 Elections

The leader of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has urged residents of Lagos State not to let what happened in the 2023 election occur again in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

He encouraged everyone to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). This way, they can vote massively for President Bola Tinubu, who he believes is one of their own.

Tompolo, who was represented by Kestin Pondi, made these remarks at a campaign rally for Mr Tinubu’s re-election in Lagos on Tuesday. During the event, he presented 57 campaign vehicles to state coordinators.

"What happened in 2023 must not be repeated. He must win convincingly in 2027," he stated.

He praised Mr Tinubu as a selfless and brave leader who prioritizes the nation over his re-election. He noted that Tinubu has undertaken bold reforms that are already benefiting many Nigerians.

Tompolo explained that Lagos is now known as a city for all Nigerians, thanks to the groundwork laid by President Tinubu. He mentioned that successive governors built on this foundation. He said now that Tinubu has a greater responsibility, the people must support him.

"Lagos is the city for all Nigerians because someone stood firm to restructure and reform it. From the time he came into office in 1999 up to 2007, when he left, Lagos was the envy of other states."

He added, "Today, he has a higher responsibility and an opportunity to replicate the Lagos success story in Nigeria through reforms. There is massive development across the states today because reforms are working."

Tompolo said that to keep the reforms going, Lagos residents and all Nigerians need to spread the message to everyone.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also spoke at the rally. He said Nigeria is achieving economic stability under the Tinubu-led government.

He urged people to ignore the actions of opposition politicians who lack a clear plan for Nigeria. He described them as desperate for elections and inconsistent in their party affiliations, which he said is a poor trait in any leader.

Mr Sanwo-Olu highlighted that Mr Tinubu has built more roads than previous administrations in just three years. He mentioned how Tinubu has supported students, increased the minimum wage, and ensured funds are available for pensions.

"Why won’t we vote for him? The entire Lagos is for Tinubu. All our votes are for Tinubu. You’ve done it before, you’ll do it again. We will reach every part of Lagos with our message to re-elect Tinubu. Go out and convince everyone that Tinubu is the candidate to vote for," the governor said.

Earlier, Sunday Asuku, the National Coordinator of the movement, urged Lagos residents to secure their PVCs to vote massively for Tinubu.

"We must stand our ground and deliver Tinubu with PVCs, not with guns or intimidation. Lagos must not put their son, Tinubu, to shame," he stated.

He emphasized that in the 2027 presidential election, Nigerians should make a clear statement by retiring the so-called "serial contenders," whom he called "enemies of Nigeria."
