Troops Rescue Six Katsina University Students and Driver

Troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six female students from the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, along with their driver. They were kidnapped on the Daye, Malumfashi Road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The victims were taken after armed men attacked a commercial vehicle traveling from Kaduna to Katsina on Monday.

Lieutenant Colonel Olamiyi Osoba, the Deputy Director of Information for Sector 2, shared this information in a statement to reporters on Monday.

Osoba mentioned that the troops acted quickly after getting a distress call on the evening of September 21, 2026. This call reported the attack on the vehicle.

He said the quick response from the troops made the kidnappers leave their captives behind and run away from the area.

All seven victims were rescued without any injuries. They went through initial security checks and medical assessments.

“After the initial security checks and medical assessments, we handed over the rescued individuals to the appropriate officials. This was to ensure they were safely reunited with their families and school authorities,” Osoba said.

This rescue is part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat kidnapping and other crimes in the North-West.
