Two people died and one was injured on Monday when a Volvo truck loaded with iron crashed into a parked vehicle on the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway in Ogijo, Ogun State.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, shared this information in traffic updates on Monday.
Akinbiyi said the deadly accident happened around 7:00 a.m. at Kadesh, heading towards Ogijo, on the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway.
He explained, “According to eyewitness accounts, the loaded Volvo truck crashed into a parked truck in front of it.
“The three people in the Volvo truck were affected by the crash. The motor boy and the escort died at the scene, while the driver was injured.”
He noted that the Volvo truck, with the registration number LND 936 XC, hit another truck whose plate number could not be found because it drove away after the crash.
Akinbiyi mentioned that the crashed truck was taken to the Police Division in Ogijo for further investigation. The bodies of those who died were taken to a morgue in Sagamu.
He added, “Traffic was partially affected, but with the help of TRACE and the police, the accident was cleared and vehicles could move again. The road is now open for traffic.”
