Two Suspects Arrested for Helping Kidnappers in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two people for allegedly helping kidnappers in the abduction of three people in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The suspects, named Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, were caught after police investigations linked them to the kidnapping of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, near Igbaja.

Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, shared this news in a statement released in Ilorin on Friday.

She said these arrests are part of the police's ongoing efforts to break down kidnapping networks and bring everyone involved to justice.

"The continuous fight against criminals and everyone linked to their activities is yielding good results. Police operatives in Kwara State have arrested two suspects for their alleged roles in helping to kidnap three people in Ifelodun Local Government Area," Ejire-Adeyemi stated.

She added that the suspects are under investigation for criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping itself.

"Their arrest came after careful intelligence-led investigations, which linked them to the abduction of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, near Igbaja, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The suspects are currently helping the police with important information. Efforts are also ongoing to find and arrest other members of the criminal group," she explained.

In response to this situation, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, emphasized the command’s commitment to continuing intelligence-led operations against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

"The command is determined to follow the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu. This vision focuses on intelligence-led policing, preventing crime, and protecting lives and property," Ojo said.

The commissioner encouraged residents to keep supporting the police with timely and credible information. He assured them that any report received would be used professionally to strengthen efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.
