VIDEO: NDLEA finds drugs hidden in imported furniture and women’s headgear
The NDLEA has uncovered a large shipment of illegal drugs concealed in imported furniture and women's headgear. This discovery highlights ongoing drug trafficking issues.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has caught a big shipment of illegal drugs hidden in imported furniture, especially sofas, and women’s headgear.
In a statement on X shared on Sunday, Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, called this find one of the recent discoveries by NDLEA operatives.
He also shared videos showing how the drugs were discovered.
The footage shows officers carefully unpacking large cardboard boxes that contained sofas. After slicing through the outer packaging and the internal foam, the operatives found many sealed packages of suspected drugs hidden inside the furniture.
More Discoveries
In another operation, officers looked at decorative women’s headgear. When they cut open the fabric and linings, they found more packages of illegal substances cleverly stitched or hidden inside the traditional head wraps.

One of the videos shows several vacuum-sealed bags filled with dried plant material laid out on a table after recovery.
“One of the recent discoveries by @ndlea_nigeria is the concealment of large consignment of illicit drugs in imported furniture (sofas) and women head gears. Just take a look at the moment of discovery captured in the attached videos,” Babafemi wrote.
This latest seizure is part of NDLEA’s ongoing fight against smart drug trafficking networks that use everyday items to smuggle drugs in and out of Nigeria.
Over the years, the agency has found similar hiding methods using furniture, headgear, shoes, electrical appliances, and more at seaports, airports, and courier facilities.
These methods show the ongoing creativity of cartels trying to avoid getting caught.
