Wike praises Dunamis Church for building bridge for pedestrians in Abuja

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has praised Dunamis International Gospel Centre for building a pedestrian bridge on Airport Road in Abuja.

Wike made this statement on Friday during the opening of the bridge at the church's headquarters, the 100,000-capacity Glory Dome in Abuja.

He called the project a great example of Corporate Social Responsibility.

The minister shared that the church applied for approval to build the bridge in 2018, but he only saw the application in February 2026. He quickly approved it within a month.

Wike said this approval shows President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to good governance. He encouraged church members to support a government that can meet the people's needs.

He said, “Government cannot do everything alone; there is nowhere in the world where government carries every burden. That is why we emphasise social responsibility.”

To support community projects, Wike announced that the FCT Administration would pay 50 percent of the total cost the church spent on the bridge.

He praised the Senior Pastor of Dunamis, Paul Enenche, and his wife, Becky Enenche, for showing leadership and using church resources to improve lives instead of only focusing on winning souls.

But the minister also expressed concern about many pedestrians not using the bridges. Instead, they risk their lives by crossing busy expressways.

He warned against the public criticizing government actions on social media when the government takes steps to ensure public safety.

Earlier, Pastor Enenche explained that the decision to build the pedestrian bridge came from worrying about the many accidents on Airport Road.

He said, “The Church plans to add modern aesthetic coverings, security lighting and transparent side-panels to the structure to protect users from weather elements and boost compliance.”

Enenche urged caring individuals and leaders to focus on making a positive impact in society and to think about the future. He stressed that resources should be used for the common good.

Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the FCT, also praised the church for supporting its faith with action.

Mrs Kingibe called the ministry “a beacon of light” and encouraged residents and leaders in the area to come together to create a safer and more peaceful capital.
