World Food Day: Gov Mbah is making farming safe and profitable, Nnaji

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ugwuanama Farms Ltd, Sani Friday Nnaji, has praised Governor Dr Peter Mbah for making the state safe and good for investments. This has helped change agriculture for the better, increase food production, and promote large-scale farming in Enugu State.

Nnaji shared these thoughts during the third World Food Day celebration under Mbah’s government. He linked the growing trust of farmers and investors in Enugu to the governor’s focused policies, security actions, and commitment to modernizing farming.

He said the government has made great strides in placing Enugu among Nigeria’s top states in agriculture. This was achieved through smart investments, better access to farmland, new technology, and policies that encourage private-sector involvement.

According to him, changing unsafe forests and rural areas into productive farming zones is one of the government’s biggest wins. This is especially important for farmers who need safe access to their lands.

Nnaji praised the governor for his ongoing efforts to remove criminals from forests and villages. He noted that improved security has boosted farmers’ confidence and allowed commercial farming to grow.

He mentioned the use of Forest Guards, community policing, a Command-and-Control Centre, security drones, AI-powered cameras, and other modern security tools as key parts of the government’s plan to protect lives, secure investments in rural areas, and restore trust among farming communities.

He stressed that good security is key to agricultural growth. Farmers cannot reach their full potential if they face harassment, attacks, or threats on their farmlands.

The Ugwuanama Farms CEO also praised the government’s land reforms and investment-friendly policies. He said these have made it easier to access land and improved conditions for commercial farming and agricultural growth.

"We, the farmers in Enugu State, especially Ugwuanama Farms Ltd, are thriving in the state today because of the governor’s policies aimed at encouraging investments, particularly in land issues. These policies make commercial farming possible and allow for easier access to land and facilities," he said.

Nnaji further commended Governor Mbah for promoting agricultural mechanization, innovation, and technology. He also encouraged young people to see farming as a viable way to create wealth and jobs.

He mentioned the Smart Green Schools initiative, which brings agricultural activities into schools. This is a smart way to introduce children to modern farming and develop the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs.

He noted that the focus on agricultural production is already helping to make food more available and lower food prices. This is also strengthening the links between security, economic growth, and food security.

He maintained that the government’s methods show that securing rural areas and supporting farmers are crucial for achieving sustainable food production and economic progress.

Nnaji congratulated Governor Mbah, farmers, agricultural investors, and other stakeholders on World Food Day. He is optimistic that the state’s agriculture will keep growing under the government’s policies.

He called for continued teamwork between the government and private investors to build on successes, attract more investments, and make Enugu State a main agricultural center. This could create jobs, improve lives, and greatly contribute to Nigeria’s food security.
