The lawmaker for Ijebu North I State Constituency in Ogun State, Rasheed Kashamu, is backing Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi, for the governorship. He believes Yayi is the best candidate to lead the state into its next phase of growth.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kashamu, son of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, said, “The next governor of the state must be a leader whose credentials are built on years of proven public service, sound legislative experience, financial expertise and a demonstrable commitment to improving the lives of the people.”

Kashamu pointed out Adeola’s long career in public service. He said this experience makes him one of Nigeria’s top legislators.

He added, “Adeola’s journey from the House of Assembly to the House of Representatives and then to the Senate shows years of strong leadership and dedication to nation-building. Leadership is about preparation, competence and performance.”

“I believe that when the good people of Ogun State go to vote in 2027, they will look past campaign promises and evaluate those with a solid record of service.

“Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has shown he has the experience, capability and vision needed to successfully govern Ogun State.”

Kashamu noted that Adeola’s time in the National Assembly has given him insight into governance and public administration. He believes these qualities are crucial for managing a state as important to the economy as Ogun.

He also mentioned Adeola’s background as a chartered accountant. This financial expertise would help ensure wise resource management and better accountability in government.

Kashamu said Adeola’s representation of Ogun West Senatorial District has led to many improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, human capital development and community projects. He called these projects clear signs of leadership that prioritizes the people’s welfare.

The lawmaker highlighted that modern governance needs a leader who understands both legislation and executive roles. He added that Adeola’s years in the legislature have prepared him well for the task of leading Ogun State.

“Our state needs a governor who understands policy, values accountability, and has the experience to attract investments, strengthen institutions and support economic growth. Senator Adeola has shown these qualities throughout his public service career,” he said.

Kashamu also expressed confidence in Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate. He described her as a skilled administrator and grassroots politician who complements Adeola’s experience.

He mentioned that the combination of Adeola and Adegunwa-Balogun brings together competence, inclusivity and administrative skill. This mix can build on the progress made in the state while creating new chances for economic growth, better education, improved healthcare, agricultural development and youth empowerment.

Kashamu emphasized that Ogun has a key role in Nigeria’s economy. Therefore, it needs leaders with the experience to maximize its potential through effective governance and good financial management, while engaging both local and international investors.

“As someone who serves in the Ogun State House of Assembly, I know the high expectations from our citizens. They want leaders who listen to them and perform well. Senator Adeola has always shown that he understands these expectations and has the character and ability to meet them,” he said.

Kashamu stated that 2027 is a chance for Ogun State to choose a leader with a proven record and national legislative experience. He is confident that Adeola’s service has prepared him to provide strong leadership for the state.

He urged residents to carefully check the credentials, experience and track record of those hoping to lead the state. He insisted that Ogun’s future should be in the hands of leaders who have shown a commitment to public service over time.

“For me, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) stands for that leadership. His record speaks for him, his experience is clear, and his vision matches the hopes of many Ogun people who want progress, inclusive development and lasting prosperity. I truly believe he is the right man to lead Ogun State into a brighter future,” Kashamu concluded.
