The Yoruba Council of Elders announced its support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general election on Monday.

In a statement from its Secretary-General, Dipo Oyewole, in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, the council praised the government's focus on economic reforms, infrastructure growth, and national stability.

The council based its decision on how Tinubu's government has performed since he took office in May 2023. They believe the policies, though tough, are starting to show good results for Nigeria.

After reviewing the country's situation, the council decided that keeping the same leadership is what Nigeria needs right now.

YCE said, "President Tinubu inherited huge economic and security problems but has shown courage and determination in tackling them through bold reforms. The removal of fuel subsidy, changes to exchange rates, and efforts to bring in investments were tough choices that need time to show their benefits.

"The administration needs a chance to solidify its plans. Even with the early challenges from some reforms, there are signs that the economy is starting to stabilize."

The council also commended the Federal Government's work in infrastructure, education, agriculture, and social investment programs. They said these efforts are building a strong base for future development.

They called on Nigerians to back the President's re-election in 2027. They believe this will help keep policies and programs that are trying to improve the country.

"Our support is not about ethnicity but a fair look at the government's performance and future potential. YCE is committed to promoting national unity, good governance, and the well-being of all Nigerians, no matter their ethnic, religious, or political backgrounds."

The council is hopeful that with continued support and consistent policies, Nigeria can overcome its current troubles and achieve better economic growth and political stability.
