The ADC has denied allegations from the APC about unpaid salaries, calling it a distraction from the government's failures. They challenge the APC to provide evidence.

ADC says it does not owe salaries, challenges APC for proof

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it does not owe its workers any salaries. They challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council to show proof of their claims.

This response came after Dele Alake, the APC campaign council spokesperson, said the ADC had not paid its employees for over 12 months.

In a statement on Monday, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary, called the claim false. He accused the ruling party of trying to shift focus from the problems of the Tinubu government.

“The ADC categorically rejects this allegation as an irresponsible falsehood, deliberately concocted to mislead Nigerians and distract attention from the monumental failures of the Tinubu administration,” he said.

Mr Abdullahi challenged the APC to provide any real evidence to back up their claims. He said they should stop insulting Nigerians with fake stories disguised as press statements.

He pointed out that the APC should focus on serious issues like the rising cost of living, unemployment, and insecurity instead of making claims about the ADC’s finances.

The ADC spokesperson suggested that the ruling party is gearing up to campaign for the 2027 elections by attacking others instead of highlighting their successes.

“It is becoming increasingly clear that the APC has decided to run its 2027 campaign on allegations against the opposition rather than achievements of its own,” he said.

He added, “That is what happens when a government has spent years making promises it cannot keep and excuses it cannot defend.”

Mr Abdullahi urged Mr Alake and other APC officials to explain how the government’s economic policies are affecting Nigerians.

He stated that the ADC will continue to focus on the cost of living as the elections approach.

“This election is about one issue only: the cost of living that the Tinubu administration has pushed beyond the reach of the majority of Nigerians. The ADC will stay focused on this issue. We will not be distracted,” he said.
