Troops from Operation Enduring Peace have captured a man pretending to be a soldier in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. He is accused of stealing phones and causing trouble in public.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by Capt. Chinonso Oteh, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace. He shared this information during an interview with our correspondent in Jos, the state capital.
“Yes, it is true. That one happened in the Jos North area,” Oteh said.
He explained that the troops arrested the suspect, named Salim Idris, around 11:30 am on October 25 at Filin Sukuwa in Jos North LGA.

According to him, the arrest came after they received reliable information about the suspect’s criminal activities in the area. The troops tracked him down and caught him while he was wearing a military camouflage uniform.
“Preliminary interrogation reportedly revealed that the suspect had been involved in a series of alleged criminal activities, including public disturbance, phone snatching and impersonation of security agencies,” he stated.
The suspect is now in the hands of the troops as investigations continue.
