The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will meet for the first time on Tuesday. This meeting is ahead of the party’s campaign kickoff for the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. at the campaign council headquarters on Herbert Macaulay Way, Central Business District, Abuja. This information comes from an internal memo signed by the council’s Secretary, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

The memo, dated 18 October, was sent to council members. It states that the meeting will officially start the council's work as they prepare for the upcoming election.

During the meeting, members will discuss and approve the campaign calendar. They will also plan for the campaign launch in Kaduna on Saturday, 24 October.

This meeting is by invitation only and is open to the 134 members of the Presidential Campaign Council chosen by the party. Attendance is limited to directors and secretaries from various directorates within the council.

Several key figures are expected at the meeting. These include Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke; Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo; and Governor Uzodimma.

Also attending are Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. They hold positions as deputy vice chairmen I, II, and III, respectively.

Other senior members include Yobe State Governor Mala Buni, who is the deputy director-general I for the North. Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin is deputy director-general II for the region.

Edo North Senator Adams Oshiomhole serves as the deputy director-general for Mobilisation. Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu are deputy directors-generals I and II for the South, respectively.

The council includes governors from different states who will lead the presidential campaign in their areas.

The Kaduna event will kick off the APC’s nationwide campaign for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

This inaugural meeting follows the recent inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During that event, Mr Tinubu called himself an “errand man” of the party and promised to stay committed to its goals and manifesto.

The campaign council is set to manage the APC’s mobilization and campaign efforts across the nation as the party gears up for the 2027 presidential election on 16 January.
