The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, started the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council on Monday. The goal is to win the upcoming 2027 general elections in the state.
At the event held at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre in Owerri, Uzodimma urged the council members to rally voters in their communities.
He told the council to see their roles as a national duty. This requires discipline, teamwork, and active involvement at the grassroots level.
“Our campaign council must have a strong presence in local governments, wards, and polling units,” the governor said.
Uzodimma encouraged all candidates to work together as one team. They need to effectively share the achievements of the ruling party with voters.
He is dedicated to building political structures in the state. This will support President Bola Tinubu’s plans for development and ensure total victory for him at the polls.
Earlier, Dr Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the APC National Vice Chairman for the South-East, mentioned that the council's main aim is to win all elective positions.
“The mandate before us is clear: to secure victory in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections,” Arodiogbu said.
The state party chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, also spoke. He told council members to start a door-to-door campaign in all 27 local government areas right away.
“This council is not a ceremonial body. Our message must reach every community with discipline and respect for the people,” Onyedebelu said.
Chief Chris Okewulonu spoke for the council members. He assured the party leaders that they are ready to carry out their mandate without any compromises.
The News Agency of Nigeria noted that the event had many attendees. This included Deputy Governor Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru, federal and state lawmakers, local government chairmen, and other important party members.
