APC sets up campaign team for Osun governorship election

The All Progressives Congress has put together its National Campaign Council and several sub-committees for the governorship election in Osun State, set for August 15, 2026. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will lead the campaign council.

The party noted that this is part of its plan to manage the nationwide campaign and rally support for its candidate in the upcoming election.

This information was shared in a statement released on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

The campaign council was formed through a notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

PUNCH Online reports that Osun is one of the states due for off-cycle governorship elections this year. Political parties are ramping up their campaigns and strategies as the election approaches, which is likely to show the strength of the main parties in the South-West.

The statement said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces the composition of its National Campaign Council and its Sub-Committees for the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for Saturday, 15 August, 2026.

“As contained in a Notice signed by the Party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, Ph.D., BL, the National Campaign Council is chaired by H.E. Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.

“The Council has H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, Governor of Yobe State; H.E. Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, President of the Senate; and Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, GCON, Speaker of the House of Representatives, as Co-Chairmen. Hon. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, serves as Deputy Chairman, while Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CON, Deputy President of the Senate, is the Secretary of the Council.”

The party added that the council includes governors, members of the National Working Committee, leaders of the National Assembly, ministers, and other important figures from across the country.

The statement also mentioned, “The Council comprises eminent Party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state legislators, and other key stakeholders drawn from across the country to drive the Party’s campaign towards victory.”

The APC also highlighted that it has set up specialized sub-committees to handle important parts of the campaign. These cover election planning and management, finance and resource mobilization, grassroots engagement, logistics, monitoring and compliance, media and publicity, security, youth mobilization, women mobilization, and support for persons with disabilities.

The statement continued, “To ensure smooth coordination and effective execution of campaign activities, the Party has also constituted specialized sub-committees covering Election Planning and Management; Finance and Resource Mobilization; Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilization; Logistics and Campaign Management; Monitoring and Compliance; Protocol; Media and Publicity; Security; Youth Mobilization; Special Interest (Persons with Disabilities) Mobilization; Women’s Mobilization; and Secretariat functions.”

The ruling party announced that the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja.
