The Coalition of APC Youth Wings in Ondo State has distanced itself from a supposed vote of no confidence against Dayo Israel, the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress.

The coalition also expressed confidence in Israel, highlighting what it called growth, better organization, and more visibility for the party’s youth wing under his leadership.

This position came in a statement released on Wednesday in Akure by the coalition's National Coordinator, Success Adeniken. This followed an emergency meeting of APC youths in the state on Tuesday.

The coalition includes the APC Mandate Group, APC Youth Vanguard, APC Youth Volunteers, and APC Youths Advocates. They said the alleged vote of no confidence against Israel does not reflect the views of party youths in Ondo State.

“We categorically dissociate the entire APC youth structure in Ondo State from any purported vote of no confidence allegedly passed against the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Dayo Israel,” the statement said.

It continued, “Under his leadership, the youth wing of the party has experienced measurable growth, improved organisation, and greater national visibility.”

The group also called Israel a source of inspiration and guidance for young party members across Nigeria, showing their support for his ongoing leadership.

Despite this support for Israel, the coalition announced a no-confidence vote against the state youth leader, Opeyemi Adedeji, and asked for his suspension.

“It is our firm position that Mr Adedeji acted without the mandate, consultation, or backing of the overwhelming majority of APC youths in the state when he purported to endorse or facilitate a vote of no confidence against the National Youth Leader,” they stated.

The coalition also requested the appointment of an acting state youth leader.

They urged APC youth structures in other states to uphold internal democracy and discipline within the party. They insisted that anyone found to have disrupted the party for personal or financial reasons should be held responsible.

The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to the unity and electoral success of the APC, stating they will continue to oppose any actions they see as harmful to the party’s stability.
