The Bauchi State Police Command has made progress in fighting kidnapping. They rescued two victims and arrested five suspected kidnappers in Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The police shared this news in a statement on Friday from their spokesperson, Nafiu Habib.

The event took place on June 2, 2026. Armed men attacked a villager's home in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, Pali District, Alkaleri LGA. They took the villager's 40-year-old wife and 25-year-old son.

Habib said the police acted quickly after getting a report about the incident. He mentioned, "Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Pali Outstation immediately visited the scene of the crime and commenced intelligence-led operations to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims."

The police spokesperson noted that a joint security team made up of police, soldiers, and local vigilantes used good information to arrest three suspects in Kuka Village, Duguri District, on the same day.

The suspects are Mainasara Umaru, 23; Buba Umaru, 20; and Muhammadu Usman, 19. "Their arrest followed trails that led operatives to their residence," Habib said.

Further investigation led to the arrest of two more suspects on June 3. One suspect confessed he knew about the kidnapping and where the victims were kept. This confession helped the police find another suspect, Ahmadu Umaru, in Dalgade.

Habib also revealed that the victims were rescued unharmed during a follow-up operation. "Following intelligence-driven operations, the kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt on June 3, 2026. They have since been taken to the General Hospital, Alkaleri, for medical examination and attention," he stated.

The police spokesperson said all the suspects are in custody. The case has been handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for a complete and careful investigation.

The police added that they are working hard to catch other suspects who are still on the run. They also aim to recover the weapons used in the kidnapping.
