The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the alleged killing of a 20-year-old man by police officers at a station in Misau Local Government Area.

The spokesperson for the command, Nafiu Habib, shared this information in a statement on Tuesday.

The statement mentioned that reports on social media claimed police at the station attacked a young man during questioning related to an ongoing case.

The deceased has been identified as Abdullahi Adamu, 20, from Sebore Village in Hardawa District.

Habib explained that the victim was first taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Misau. Later, he was moved to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while receiving treatment.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, was worried about the allegations. He emphasized that the command is dedicated to professionalism, human rights, and following the law.

"To address this, the commissioner has ordered a complete investigation into what happened,"
Habib said.

"The command is focused on making sure justice is done. Appropriate actions will be taken against any officers found guilty according to the law," the statement continued.

The police also expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.

They called on the public to share any information that could help with the investigation and urged people to cooperate with the police.
