The Bauchi State Police Command has started an investigation into the alleged killing of a 20-year-old man by police officers at an outpost in the Misau Local Government Area.
SP Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesperson, shared this news in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said the police received reports on social media claiming that officers at the police outpost attacked a young man while questioning him about an ongoing case.
The deceased has been identified as Abdullahi Adamu, 20, from Sebore Village in the Hardawa District.
Habib noted that Abdullahi was first taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Misau before being moved to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi, where he passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while getting treatment.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, is troubled by the allegations. He emphasized that the command is dedicated to professionalism, human rights, and following the law.
"In line with this, the Commissioner has immediately ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"The Command is committed to making sure justice is served and that proper disciplinary and legal actions will be taken against any officers found guilty according to the law," the statement said.
The command also sent its condolences to Abdullahi's family and prayed for his soul.
It asked the public for any helpful information that could aid the investigation and urged people to cooperate with the police.
