The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has rejected a fake circular going around on social media. This circular promoted a presidential ticket featuring former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement released on Friday by Okeh Juliet, the Head of Press and Public Relations, the board called the circular false and not authorized.
"The Board wishes to dissociate itself from the purported statement and wishes to inform the public that it is false, unauthorised, and as such, did not originate from the Board or the Office of the Secretary to the Board," the statement said.
The board noted that the document included political messages that do not match its official communication standards.
"The purported document contains political undertones which is not consistent with the official, non-partisan communication standards of the Board. Members of the public are advised to disregard it in its entirety," it stated.
This fake circular seemed to come from the Office of the Secretary. It mentioned delays in the ongoing recruitment process, claiming it had slowed down due to administrative hurdles needing clearance from the Minister of Interior.
It went on to express hope that Nigerians would choose "visionary leaders" in 2027. It mentioned a leadership ticket like Obi/Kwankwaso under the NDC platform as a way to bring about better governance that could make processes smoother and cut down on bureaucratic delays.
Rejecting this message, CDCFIB said the Ministry of Interior, led by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been focused on making institutional reforms and improving service delivery across its agencies.
"The minister’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and citizen-centred governance remains focused on strengthening the nation’s internal security architecture and enhancing public confidence in the services," the statement added.
The board asked applicants and the public to rely only on its official channels for information about the recruitment process and other activities.
"Applicants and the general public are urged to rely only on the official CDCFIB communication channels for authentic information regarding the recruitment exercise as well as other Board activities," it said.
