Board rejects false circular about Obi-Kwankwaso ticket

The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has dismissed a fake circular going around on social media. This circular promoted a presidential ticket involving former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for the 2027 elections.

In a statement on Friday, Okeh Juliet, the Head of Press and Public Relations, said the circular is not true and was not approved by the Board.

“The Board wishes to dissociate itself from the purported statement and wishes to inform the public that it is false, unauthorised, and as such, did not originate from the Board or the Office of the Secretary to the Board,” the statement said.

The Board pointed out that the document had political messages that do not match its official communication standards.

“The purported document contains political undertones which is not consistent with the official, non-partisan communication standards of the Board. Members of the public are advised to disregard it in its entirety,” it stated.

The fake circular claimed to come from the Office of the Secretary. It mentioned delays in the ongoing recruitment exercise, saying the process was slowed down by administrative issues needing clearance from the Minister of Interior.

It also hoped that Nigerians would choose “visionary leaders” in 2027, mentioning “a leadership ticket such as Obi/Kwankwaso under the NDC platform” as a way to bring better governance that could make processes smoother and cut down on bureaucratic issues.

Rejecting these claims, CDCFIB said the Ministry of Interior, led by Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is working on reforms and better service delivery across its agencies.

“The minister’s commitment to professionalism, accountability, and citizen-centred governance remains focused on strengthening the nation’s internal security architecture and enhancing public confidence in the services,” the statement added.

The Board advised applicants and the public to only trust its official channels for information about the recruitment exercise and other activities.

“Applicants and the general public are urged to rely only on the official CDCFIB communication channels for authentic information regarding the recruitment exercise as well as other Board activities,” it said.
