The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will lead the launch of six books by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kemi Pinheiro, on 20 November.

The books cover topics like criminal litigation, corporate insolvency, arbitration, and the link between law and faith.

They are titled Strategies in Criminal Trial: A Practitioner’s Guide; Insolvency Law in Nigeria: Practice and Procedure; Arbitration Law and Practice in Nigeria; Defining Moments: Chronicles of a Silk (Volume One); The Compendium; and MULAN Legal: Trending Issues of Law and Faith, Essays in Honour of ‘Kemi Pinheiro, SAN.

Kemi Pinheiro was called to the Nigerian Bar in October 1987 and became a SAN in 2006. He started his law firm, Pinheiro LP, in 2001 and became the chairman of the Lagos State Law Reform Commission in 2020.

This Act brought in new rules about company administration and voluntary arrangements. It gives struggling businesses a chance to restructure instead of going straight to liquidation.

The book on arbitration talks about Nigeria’s arbitration system, especially the Arbitration and Mediation Act 2023, and how arbitral awards are recognized and enforced.

The 2023 Act replaced the Arbitration and Conciliation Act of 1988. It also added new rules on emergency arbitration and third-party funding, among other changes.

Defining Moments: Chronicles of a Silk (Volume One) shares Mr Pinheiro’s professional story, while The Compendium includes writings from other legal experts and scholars.

The last book, MULAN Legal: Trending Issues of Law and Faith, Essays in Honour of ‘Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, looks at how law and faith connect in Nigeria’s diverse legal system.

The launch, organized by Pinheiro LP, is expected to draw judges, lawyers, academics, and other key players in the legal field.
